Unione Europea - Fondo Europeo di Sviluppo Regionale

BoSeProMare (Self-propelled Buoy to Protect the Sea) involves the design, development and implementation of a version of a buoy that will be used to monitor a series of marine environmental parameters and provide various services, integrating them with the Control Room (CR). The buoy will be composed of two functional modules:

  1. A fixed part (“mother”) that will be positioned at a specific point of interest and anchored to the seabed by means of a special fixed structure;
  1. A second mobile part (‘Daughter’) that will be able to carry out itinerant measurements in the different dynamically identified areas;
  1. The buoys will be equipped with energy harvesting systems to convert the energy collected from the various sources available to power the devices and recharge the batteries;
  2. The daughter buoy will be motorised and thus able to move by means of multidirectional propellers. It will be able to carry out measurements of environmental parameters, including pH, salinity, temperature, turbidity, and analysis of microplastics or suspended particles; through pre-defined monitoring routes (autonomous driving) and the creation of specific missions that can be activated by CR, tracked in real time by GPS.

The project is co-financed by POR-FESR Sardinia 2014-2020, website:
